Ione Barczak
Ione has 31 years of international teaching experience behind her. Students always respond to her enthusiasm and passion for dance.
She has performed in several dance companies in Brazil and has choreographed and performed with City Dance Ballet Company. She has performed roles such as Lise in ‘La Fille Mal Gardee’ and the Fairy Godmother in ‘Cinderella’.
Ione completed her training at dance institutions in her native Brazil as well as at the Joffrey Ballet, Broadway Dance Centre and Martha Graham School of Dance. She studied with prominent teachers in ballet technique such as David Howard and Finis Jhung and has completed a Full Diploma in Education from FAFI (Faculdade de Filosofia Ciencias e Letras de Itajuba). She has also completed courses in Mat, Studio and TheraPilates (Polestar Pilates) and Hatha Yoga.
Ione has been teaching Classical Ballet and Pilates at City Dance in Auckland City since 2000, and at the North Shore Musical Theatre in Birkenhead since 2006.
